Agency Profile

a) Describe your agency’s philosophy of providing services and supports to individuals with disabilities.

At Josina Lott Residential & Community Services, our mission is to enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilities. We provide quality services and safe environments. We believe in self-determination and community integration.

b) Describe your agency’s staff orientation and training process.

All staff attend 5-days of orientation before stepping into their new position. This includes learning residents/participant rights, CPR, First-Aid & how to make the lives of those with DD better. Our direct care employees then work with a mentor for at least 2 weeks before covering a shift. All employees also complete in-depth, on-the-job training specific to their position.

c) How are individuals with disabilities involved in selecting the agency’s staff that work with them?

All potential candidates have dinner or participate in an activity with our individuals prior to being hired to see how they interact.

d) Describe your agency’s availability and flexibility in scheduling services and supports (days and hours available, areas of Lucas County willing to provide services, etc).

Josina Lott serves adults, 24/7 as needed, with DD who reside west of the Maumee River. Service & supports include our intermediate care facility & day program.

e) Describe how services will be provided in the event of an agency staff illness or emergency.

We can provide services regardless of staff illness through our scheduling and on call procedures.

We encourage and promote regular communication (phone, email, in-person) with the family/guardian and will meet at their request. They’re also encouraged to attend program planning meetings.

We offer regular outings in the community and also have a strong volunteer program that brings others onto our campuses to further expand involvement.

All staff are required to attend 5-days of annual recertification. They’re also encouraged to attend meetings, seminars and conferences to continue learning.

Josina Lott is diligent about quality care. This includes following and exceeding Medicaid standards across the board. Our managers take great care to assure individuals’ program plans and daily life skill needs are being met.

Individuals enjoy the park-like setting of our residential facility. They love the variety of activities to choose from along with enjoying meeting other individuals at our community events. We have a strong volunteer program which fosters friendships and encourages integration both ways. Individuals and their families see this as their home and quite a few have been a part of our family for over 20 years. We invite you to visit, take a tour and attend a volunteer event to learn about who we are and what we do.

Monthly outings vary due to the different seasons, but some of our regular outings include:
The YMCA, The Toledo Museum of Art, The Toledo Zoo, Sauder’s Village, Out to Lunch, Bowling, Movies, Library

On a daily basis we have a variety of different activities going on in the different rooms including;
Exercise/meditation, Book Club, Arts and Crafts, Games/Puzzles, Music Therapy, Bistro (cooking skills) and more.
We also have the Toledo Zoo Education Program that visits us once a month as well as visits from the Humane Society

Our individuals regularly give back to the community through monthly volunteer opportunities for the following agencies:
Ronald McDonald House, Mobile Meals, Seagate Foodbank, and Alzheimer’s Association of NWO.

We also have volunteers who regularly come in and do special projects, go on outings and spend time with the individuals.
