Agency Profile

a) Describe your agency’s philosophy of providing services and supports to individuals with disabilities.

The mission of Mobile Meals of Toledo, Inc. is to help our clients sustain independence and enhance their quality of life by delivering nutritious food. We treat all our clients with dignity and respect and go above and beyond to ensure that their needs are met.

b) Describe your agency’s staff orientation and training process.

Staff/volunteer orientation introduces new staff and volunteers to our organization and our policies & procedures. Annual training reinforces these policies & procedures. All staff & volunteers sign a Code of Ethics policy.

c) How are individuals with disabilities involved in selecting the agency’s staff that work with them?

Our contact with our clients is limited to dropping off their meals for the day. Clients do not select delivery personnel; they are assigned to a route and will come to recognize the people who deliver their route.

d) Describe your agency’s availability and flexibility in scheduling services and supports (days and hours available, areas of Lucas County willing to provide services, etc).

We deliver meals throughout all of Lucas County. Meals are delivered daily between 10 am and 2 pm. Some clients prefer to receive all of their meals in one delivery each week. We are happy to accommodate that request.

e) Describe how services will be provided in the event of an agency staff illness or emergency.

We have ample staff to cover for employee illness or emergency. The meals are always delivered unless a snow emergency prevents us from being on the road. We provide an emergency meal pack each October so our clients are prepared for such an event.

f) Describe how your agency would address individual or family concerns.

Our staff will address any individual or family concerns promptly. A phone call or email to our office during the day will put you in touch with someone immediately. After hours, our answering service will be happy to take a message and it will be waiting for us when the office opens in the morning.

We provide annual training for our staff on a range of topics that affect our clients as well as service delivery.

We have qualified staff overseeing our kitchen and all phases of food preparation. We maintain a time and temperature system to ensure food safety. And we are inspected by the Lucas County Health Department and the Area Office on Aging.

We are your local provider of home-delivered meals. We can address any issues promptly and handle unusual circumstances that sometimes come up. Our meals are delivered daily or weekly by caring staff and a corps of 800 volunteers, not by a UPS or Fed-Ex driver. As a non-profit, our goal is not profit but rather to fulfill our mission of providing nutrition and independence to those who need home-delivered meals.
