Our philosophy at Enhancing Abilities is to enhance the lives of people with developmental disabilitiesand their familes by fosteind sel-determination, promoting relationships and encouraging independence through respect, dignity and quality services.

b) Describe your agency’s staff orientation and training process.

Enhancing Abilities has an intense orientation. The training process is on and off the job.

c) How are individuals with disabilities involved in selecting the agency’s staff that work with them?

The clients participate in the interview process.

d) Describe your agency’s availability and flexibility in scheduling services and supports (days and hours available, areas of Lucas County willing to provide services, etc).

We are very flexible to the clients needs. We will work around their schedules.

We have an emergency on call system in place.

We believe that communication is key. Anyone can contact the CEO at anytime with concerns and they will be addressed.

We have clients that volunteer in the community. We assist in setting up and participating in activities.

We have yearly on going training. At some homes we have experts come in on a quarterly basis to train staff. We hold staff meetings bi- monthly.

We have numerous systems in place for checks and balances. The home managers do weekly house checks and the CEO does monthy house checks for all 24hr homes. The non 24hr homes get monthly checks from home managers, it may be more depending on hours served and needs of the client.

Enhancing Abilities believes that communication is very important to providing quality services. Clients are involved in staff interviewing, afterall we are going into their home and we want to make sure they are comfortable. Relationships are important and we strive to build trusting, rewarding between the staff and clients. I believe that we have a great checks and balances system for finances, medical and all services we deliever.

We have weekly and bi weekly scheduled activities. We offer a men's only group bi weekly. We also do outings as an agency such as pool, bowling and Mud Hens games.

Two days a week we volunteer, then come back to eat lunch or they may eat lunch at the volunteer site.
On the third day they either do activities in the building or go on community outings.
