Agency Profile

a) Describe your agency’s philosophy of providing services and supports to individuals with disabilities.

At iDance, we provide a safe place for people to explore a variety of interests. We are a people first agency. Our mission is to give our clients the tools to make safer and healthier choices in their own lives. We focus on fitness and nutrition, offer gym time, cooking classes and many clubs to encourage friendships with those who have similar interests.

b) Describe your agency’s staff orientation and training process.

Our staff goes through a rigorous training including all required 8-hour training. Our staff has a mentor for quarterly audits and training for each individual they serve. Each new staff member has a mentor while working with each client for the first few times.

c) How are individuals with disabilities involved in selecting the agency’s staff that work with them?

Each individual has a choice in the staff they have. We work very closely with our clients to ensure the best fitting relationships with staff we can.

d) Describe your agency’s availability and flexibility in scheduling services and supports (days and hours available, areas of Lucas County willing to provide services, etc).

We have a 24/7 flexibility of hours for HPC and employment support. We strive to accommodate all requests of services. We encourage our clients to give two weeks advance for days of service.

e) Describe how services will be provided in the event of an agency staff illness or emergency.

Our management team will always cover substitutes of staff when needed.

f) Describe how your agency would address individual or family concerns.

Each client and family are important to us. We know that open communication is the only effective communication. We work diligently with each client's special team to ensure the greatest potential of our clients. We work together through a variety of ways such as special team meetings, and group emails to address any and all concerns our clients and their support may have.

g) Describe your agency’s specific strategies for increasing community inclusion and involvement for individuals served.

Our team hosts a variety of events here and in the community. From dances to bonfires to movie nights, our clients have a variety of events to choose from to meet new friends and peers. We have partnerships with the Toledo Museum of Art, Pet Bull Project, Challenger Learning Center, 5/3, Lucas County Canine Control and the Toledo-Lucas County Library. Through these partnerships our clients have many opportunities for community inclusion and involvement.

iDance focuses on fitness and nutrition. We have a gym and fitness center, teach dance and fitness classes. We also teach cooking classes and have a catering service.

Each quarter, our staff attends a mandatory inservice. This is in addition to the 8-hour required training. Also, our staff works with a mentor.

Our clients benefit from our partnerships with Toledo School for the Arts, Toledo Museum of Art, Pet Bull Project and food pantry, Challenger Learning Center, Education Service Center of Lake Erie West, 5/3, Lucas County Canine Control and more. We offer Gardening and Aquaponics club, Art Club, coputer and coding classes, cooking classes, a cafe and catering service, a full adaptive gym and fitness center and a reading skills improvement group.

Our HPC staff have the options to choose when they want one on one services.

Our agency hosts a number of events throughout the year. We have bonfires, dance parties, movie nights, fundraisers, arts and craft nights. Everyone may also sign up for dance, acting, singing or fitness classes to participate in year-round.

Art Club's partnership with the gift shop allows for our clients to make commission. Soon our catering service will be a paid opportunity for our clients as well

Our ADS goes somewhere every day and include: the Zoo, Toledo Museum of Art, Pet Bull Project, the Antique Popcorn Museum, Computer and Coding class at the library, parks, Cinemark movie theaters, Challenger Learning Center, grocery stores and more.

We offer Art Club, Gardening Club, social game hour, gym time, dance classes, drama club, restaurants, and special field trips.

We volunteer at the Toledo Museum of Art, help kids make art at their family center, pass out food at Pet Bull Project and doggie food bank, build lesson plans with scientists at Challenger Learning Center, and walk dogs at Lucas County Canine Control.

We offer a reading skills improvement group for our clients that want to improve their reading skills. We have dance classes, drum fit and more.

Our ADS hours are Monday- Friday 9-3pm

Each day our clients come, participate in a morning meeting, get settled in to catch up with their friends. From there, we have social games, gym time, garden, art or scrapbooking club. Ten we have lunch and travel into the community for a variety of reasons, whether it be a weekly volunteer day or a field trip.
