a) Describe your agency’s philosophy of providing services and supports to individuals with disabilities.

Lott Industries believes that individuals with developmental disabilities can be viable, productive members of the community’s workforce. Lott Industries has been making that statement a reality for over 60 years by providing paid work in the Lucas County area. Lott’s goal is to be the preferred provider of choice for Vocational Habilitation, Transportation and Adult Day Services by providing opportunities within the organization and choices in the community.

Lott Transportation believes in serving our passengers with safe and reliable transportation. Lott Transportation is aware that transportation barriers often lead to barriers to employment. Lott Transportation aims to assist individuals in overcoming these barriers by providing safe, reliable and dependable transportation. At Lott Transportation, our customers become family.

b) Describe your agency’s staff orientation and training process.

Lott Industries’ orientation and training program exceeds the state regulations as an agency provider. Employees obtain 12+ hours of training prior to providing services along with annual training as required. Each new direct service employee is assigned a mentor for the first full year after hire.

Lott Transportation hires professional and courteous drivers that are CPR/FA certified and maintain Department of Transportation standards for safety.

c) How are individuals with disabilities involved in selecting the agency’s staff that work with them?

Every effort is taken to pair individuals with a supervisor that demonstrates desirable service outcomes. Preferences by individuals and their team will be considered and concerns are always addressed in a timely manner. One of Lott's goals is to train our employees to work with a variety of staff. This type of training assists people in the development process toward further community engagement.

d) Describe your agency’s availability and flexibility in scheduling services and supports (days and hours available, areas of Lucas County willing to provide services, etc).

Vocational Habilitation and Adult Day Services are provided Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am until 2:30 pm. Community Work Crews work various shifts depending on the customer needs.

Lott Transportation is flexible and willing to work with the individual's needs within a range of our routes and their timing.

e) Describe how services will be provided in the event of an agency staff illness or emergency.

Lott Industries employs substitute staff to accommodate staff illness and emergencies. Our staff is flexible and able to adapt to a wide variety of situations, as they are cross trained in each other's roles and duties.

f) Describe how your agency would address individual or family concerns.

Satisfaction is always our number one priority. In the event of individual or family concerns, management conducts internal investigations promptly to resolve issues. When necessary, a team meeting will be conducted. All of Lott's efforts are guided by the employee's or team member's ISP and making sure that everyone on the team is focused on each person's desired outcomes.

g) Describe your agency’s specific strategies for increasing community inclusion and involvement for individuals served.

We provide a variety of community engagements that offer each employee or team member the ability to learn and grow toward their desired outcomes. Lott Industries also strives to increase community inclusion and involvement by giving back to the community. This task is completed by volunteering and community outreach within Lucas County.

Lott conducts weekly meetings to discuss the current best practices in providing vocational and day habilitation services. Lott invites experts in the field to visit our facility and offer the latest training to our employees. Lott provides annual training to educate our employees on the latest rules, regulations, and best practices as described by The Department of Developmental Disabilities. Lott offers continual education on The Employment First Initiative and how we can continue to move our individuals along the path to community employment, based upon their desired outcome.

Daily monitoring of each individual's desired outcomes and supports. The Lott Team strives to cater our services to each person's ISP in the most efficient, productive, and life changing way.

Planned group outings or activities are developed based on desired outcomes. Examples are: community art classes, exercise classes, cooking lessons, community events, volunteer experiences, and job shadowing.

Vocational Habilitation at Lott offers hourly paid work opportunities at state minimum wages. Our mobile work crews are paid hourly as well.

Lott offers a wide variety of opportunities from production assembly, rework and inspection, kitting, sorting, document destruction, shipping and receiving, and janitorial. Our work crews perform lawn maintenance, document imaging, janitorial services, and vehicle wash. Lott also offers the opportunity to create and sell art through our Shared Lives Studio.

Community outings are designed to support one's desired outcomes. Lott doesn't approach community integration with a cookie cutter mentality. One size doesn't fit all. Lott strives to be creative and resourceful with our choice of outings in order to have the greatest impact on each person's growth and life outcomes.

Recreational and leisure activities will be designed to support one's desired outcomes. Monthly calendars will be distributed and communicated to all. Activities will involve cooking, healthy lifestyles, budgeting, arts, crafts, and sports.

Lott strongly believes in giving back to the community. Service projects will be developed to support one's desired outcomes. Lott partners with other Toledo Community organizations to help be change agents for a greater community. Examples are Habitat for Humanity, Cherry Street Mission, Food for Thought, and Goodwill Industries.

To further integrate ourselves into the community Lott offers trips to the Toledo Mudhens, The Walleye, The Toledo Art Museum, The Toledo Zoo, and various other opportunities through local churches such as Cedar Creek and Vision Kitchen.

Lott has many options for our individuals and there are no typical days. Vocational Habilitation offers a wide range of work opportunities that change daily. Lott's Adult Day Services are designed to meet one's desired outcomes and are offered in a variety of settings throughout the Toledo Community.
